...Thunderstorms produced very large hail and tornadoes across Central Alabama on Wednesday April 11th...

Thunderstorms developed across western Alabama during the early afternoon hours. These scattered thunderstorms moved across all of Central Alabama through the early evening hours...before exiting into Georgia. Some of the thunderstorms that developed were supercells. These are thunderstorms that exhibit persistent rotation and have a higher likelihood of producing very large hail and tornadoes. These supercells did end up producing a large majority of the hail and tornadoes on this day. National Weather Service Meteorologists have surveyed several locations that reported potential tornado damage. Information will be updated frequently when new or additional data becomes available.
