Heat Continues for the East and South-Central U.S.; Strong to Severe Storms Across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast

The extremely dangerous heat wave continues across the East Coast and much of the South-Central U.S. today. Record high temperatures are expected for some areas especially across the Mid-Atlantic where extreme heat risk conditions reside.   • On October 28, McAlester set a record low minimum temperature 24 deg F and a record low mean temperature of 43 deg F set on 10/28. This was also the earliest occurrence of 24 deg F.
  • Both Fort Smith and Tulsa had the last freeze of the spring and first freeze of the fall on the same dates this year: April 14 and October 28.
  • No river flooding occurred this month.
  • Tulsa has dropped to the 5th wettest year so far (Jan. 1-Oct. 31) with 52.36".
  • Fort Smith is the 3rd wettest year so far (Jan. 1-Oct. 31) with 55.92".
