Severe storm potential will increase Saturday, with the main timing window in northeast Oklahoma from Saturday evening into early Sunday morning. There are some areas of uncertainty, including how much storm coverage will be, whether storms will be surface-based or not, and consequently, how much of a threat overnight tornadoes will be during this time frame. Continue to check back over the next couple of days as the details become more certain. It is a good idea to make sure you have your 3 ways to receive weather warnings - including ones that are designed to wake you up - ready to go, just in case.
Severe thunderstorm chances continue into Sunday across far eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas ahead of a cold front. Large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes are all potential severe weather threats. We continue to monitor trends in the timing and track of the storm system, which would lead to changing expectations. Details remain uncertain. Continue to check forecasts late this week as they become clearer and consider beginning safety preparations.
