Flooding Threat Along the Gulf Coast, Southern Rockies and High Plains; Cooler Weather in the Central and Eastern U.S.

Strong thunderstorms may bring excessive rainfall and flooding over parts of the northern Gulf Coast today and over parts of the southern Rockies into the High Plains today through the weekend. Over southeast Oklahoma, shower and storm activity from the overnight could linger into this morning. Additional isolated storm development is expected this afternoon as well. Brief heavy downpours and gusty winds can be expected with any storms.
Warmer weather returns for the holiday weekend, persisting into next week. There will be at least low rain/storm chances most days, with higher chances Sunday through Tuesday.
