Gusty southwest to west winds develop over the mountains and deserts this afternoon and continue through Saturday night when gusts to 50-60 mph will occur on the favored desert slopes and below the passes.
Scattered showers are expected Saturday through early Sunday for the coasts, inland valleys, and coastal slopes of the mountains. Highest chance for precipitation north of San Diego County. Rainfall amounts will be light with generally around 0.1" throughout the lower coastal basin, locally close to 0.2" in Orange County and 0.25-1" precipitation totals in the mountains. An isolated thunderstorm may develop over the northern Inland Empire, northern Orange County, or coastal slopes of the San Bernardino County Mtns. This would result in isolated higher rainfall amounts.
A cold spring weather system will bring snow showers starting Saturday morning through early Sunday Snow levels will fluctuate between 5000-6000 feet, allowing for 2-6 inches of snow to fall in the San Bernardino County mountains above 5500 feet, with highest totals expected in the San Gabriel Mountains. Snow showers start a few hours later in the Riverside County mountains, amounting to a dusting above 6000 feet and 1-2 inches above 6500 feet.
