Tracking Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Southern U.S.; Winter Storm to Impact the Northern U.S.

A storm system will shift from eastern Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley Monday with additional threats of severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall which may bring flooding. Overview

Widespread showers and thunderstorms developed across the region Thursday, October 2, 2104 in advance of a strong cold front.  A few of the storms were strong to marginally severe producing localized wind damage and hail.  Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2  inches were common with locally higher amounts near 4  inches.
