Event Synopsis

A couple of thunderstorm complex systems developed over northern Kansas and northern Missouri during the morning hours on September 15th, 2010.  These systems tracked south into extreme southeast Kansas and west Central Missouri during the morning and early afternoon hours, producing very heavy rain and flash flooding.  This secondary complex of thunderstorms continued into southwest Missouri during the mid to late afternoon hours and interacted with a more unstable air mass and outflow boundary from the first thunderstorm complex.  As this occurred, the thunderstorms intensified over eastern portions of Springfield and eastern Greene county.  This storm produced significant damage in parts of western Webster county, specifically in the town of Rogersville.

The final wave of thunderstorms developed over south central Kansas as supercells.  These supercells developed ahead of a cold front and formed into a line of thunderstorms during the evening.  This line of thunderstorms produced wind damage in path from Cherokee county Kansas to Christian county Missouri.  An EF-0 tornado developed within this line of thunderstorms in the town of Nixa.
