A SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORM PRODUCED FIVE TORNADOES FRIDAY EVENING APRIL 30 2010
THE FIRST TORNADO WAS AN EF1 TORNADO WITH UP TO 100 MPH WINDS THAT
CROSSED THE MISSOURI BORDER TWO MILES SOUTHEAST OF PONTIAC MISSOURI
AT 552 PM AND REMAINED ON THE GROUND UNTIL IT LIFTED AT 612 PM ONE
MILE WEST OF HARDENVILLE MISSOURI. THE TORNADO HAD A MAXIMUM WIDTH
OF ONE QUARTER OF A MILE.
WHILE THE TORNADO DAMAGED SEVERAL HOMES SOUTH OF THE MISSOURI
BORDER...DAMAGE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TORNADO WAS MOST NOTABLY THE
UPROOTING AND SNAPPING OF TREES ALONG ITS ROUTE.
EVEN AS THE FIRST TORNADO LIFTED...A SECOND TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN AT
612 PM ONE MILE SOUTH OF HARDENVILLE TO THE WEST OF OZARK COUNTY
ROAD 519. THIS ONE QUARTER OF A MILE WIDE EF1 TORNADO PRODUCED 90 TO
100 MPH WINDS. WHILE THE TORNADO UPROOTED NUMEROUS TREES...DAMAGE
WAS MOST INTENSE AS IT DESTROYED OUTBUILDINGS AND A HORSE
TRAILER...AND THEN DOWNED WOODEN ELECTRIC SUPPLY LINES BEFORE
LIFTING NORTH OF COUNTY ROAD 306...OR 3 MILES NORTHEAST OF
HARDENVILLE AROUND 620 PM.
WHILE THIS TORNADO MOVED NORTHEAST...EYEWITNESSES REPORTED THAT A
THIRD TORNADO...RATED EF0...TOUCHED DOWN AT 614 PM ONE MILE EAST OF
HARDENVILLE AFTER SPLITTING FROM THE PARENT TORNADO. THIS TORNADO
TRACKED EASTWARD AWAY FROM THE PARENT TORNADO AND UPROOTED TREES
BEFORE LIFTING AT 618 PM APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE NORTHEAST OF
HARDENVILLE NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF COUNTY ROADS 305 AND 308.
THE SUPERCELLS NEXT TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN AT 624 PM NEAR CRANE ISLAND
ON THE NORTH FORK OF THE WHITE RIVER APPROXIMATELY THREE MILES NORTH
OF TECUMSEH. RATED AT THE UPPER END OF THE EF1 SCALE...THIS TORNADO
HAD WINDS THAT NEARED 110 MPH AND RANGED FROM A QUARTER TO THREE
QUARTERS OF A MILE IN WIDTH AS IT DAMAGED OVER 30 HOMES...SOME
SEVERELY...ALONG WITH NUMEROUS BARNS AND OTHER OUTBUILDINGS AS IT
TRACKED NORTHEAST ACROSS OZARK COUNTY ROADS 326 AND 328 TO THE WEST
OF PP HIGHWAY AND THEN CROSSED HIGHWAY H NEAR OZARK COUNTY ROAD
337...BEFORE LIFTING APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES EAST OF DORA NEAR HIGHWAY
CC AS IT NEARED THE NORTH FORK OF THE WHITE RIVER IN THE MARK TWAIN
NATIONAL FOREST. HUNDREDS OF OAKS WERE DAMAGED...INCLUDING MANY THAT
WERE UPROOTED OR SNAPPED ALONG ITS ROUTE.
AFTER A SEVERAL MILE GAP...THE SUPERCELL PRODUCED ITS FIFTH TORNADO
THREE MILES SOUTH OF WILLOW SPRINGS NEAR HOWELL COUNTY ROAD 5500 AT
705 PM. THIS ONE HALF TO THREE QUARTER MILE WIDE EF1 TORNADO
PRODUCED WINDS TO NEAR 110 MPH AND DOWNED NUMEROUS TREES...POWER
POLES...AND CAUSED MODERATE TO SEVERE DAMAGE TO SEVERAL HOMES AND
THE HILLBILLY JUNCTION RESTAURANT AND STORE. SEVERE DAMAGE ALSO
OCCURRED AT THE WILLOW SPRINGS WATER TREATMENT PLANT BEFORE THE
LIFTED 2 MILES SOUTH OF WILLOW SPRINGS AT 710 PM.
