A strong thunderstorm developed over southeast Camden county Tuesday afternoon as a slow moving cold front dropped southward through the area. The thunderstorm quickly intensified and began to show signs of strong midlevel rotation...which meant it had developed into a supercell thunderstorm.
As the storm moved into the Richland area, in Pulaski county, it produced hail up to the size of baseballs and winds approaching 80 mph. The thunderstorm continued moving eastward across central Pulaski and into southern Phelps and far northern Dent counties...producing large hail and damaging winds as it did so. Numerous trees were uprooted over southern Phelps and northern Dent counties.
Leaves plastered to the side of a building after being stripped off trees by the baseball size hail.
Fence damaged with tree damage in the backround.
Grass literally blown over by the strong winds.
Tree damage.
More tree damage.
Damage to the shed behind the covered car.
Large tree literally snapped in half by the winds.
Large tree sheared off in the backround.
Fairly large tree uprooted.

...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM PRODUCES LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS ACROSS
PORTIONS OF CENTRAL MISSOURI...
A SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPED ALONG A COLD FRONT OVER SOUTHEAST
CAMDEN COUNTY SHORTLY AFTER 2 PM TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THE THUNDERSTORM
TRACKED EASTWARD ACROSS CENTRAL PULASKI COUNTY INTO SOUTHERN PHELPS
AND NORTHERN DENT COUNTIES. A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DAMAGE SURVEY
TEAM WAS DISPATCHED TO THE RICHLAND MISSOURI AREA AND FOUND
WIDESPREAD TREE DAMAGE WITH NUMEROUS TREES DOWN AND SOME UPROOTED.
IN ADDITION...MANY OTHER TREES WERE STRIPPED OF THEIR LEAVES BY HAIL
UP TO THE SIZE OF BASEBALLS. THE SURVEY TEAM CONCLUDED THAT THE
DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY 70 TO 80 MPH STRAIGHT LINE WINDS AND LARGE
HAIL. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE THAT OF A TORNADO IN THE RICHLAND AREA.
AS THE STORM CONTINUED MOVING EASTWARD ACROSS PULASKI AND INTO
PHELPS AND DENT COUNTIES IT CONTINUED TO PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND
DAMAGING WINDS. TO THE SOUTH OF ROLLA NUMEROUS LARGE TREES WERE
UPROOTED WITH TREES REPORTED DOWN ACROSS NORTHERN DENT COUNTY AS
WELL.
