Dangerous Cold Weather for Most of the Country; Rare Winter Storm for the South; Fire Weather Concerns for Southern California

Arctic air will filter south and east through early this week. As this cold air moves across the South, a rare winter storm is forecast to develop from Texas, Gulf Coast States into the Southeast through early this week. 6 June 2020. 5:37 MST (6:37 MDT). La Plata County. A 65-year-old woman was killed and her friend was injured when struck by lightning while walking in the 200 block of Silver Queen South in the Edgemont subdivision. The lightning bolt first struck a tree and moved laterally to strike the woman.

17 July 2020. 14:45 MST (15:45 MDT). Gunnison County. Three individuals camping near Gunnison Colorado were affected by a lightning flash as a thunderstorms passed through. One 15 year old male was hospitalized.

31 August 2021. 2 pm mst (3 pm MDT). Archuleta County, 2 Firefighters injured. More Info
