June of 2024 featured a meandering ridge of high pressure across the Rockies, which brought periods of very warm temperatures, as well as periods of abundant available moisture and heavy rainfall, especially across southwestern Colorado into the San Luis Valley, with Alamosa experiencing its second warmest and second wettest June on record. Upper level ridging continued to meander across the region for the rest of the summer, with July seeing periods of well above normal temperatures, as well as periods of modest northwest flow bringing cooler and wetter conditions, especially across eastern Colorado. July did see Colorado Spring's high temperature top out a 100F (July 12th), marking only the 12th time on record that the temperature was at or above the century mark in Colorado Springs. August featured warm temperatures and bouts of heavy rainfall, with the best coverage of precipitation favoring western and south central Colorado. Alamosa did turn in its warmest August on record, as well as its 14th wettest August on record.

The preliminary average temperature for the Summer of 2024 in Alamosa was 65.2 degrees. This is 2.2 degrees above normal and makes the Summer of 2024 the 2nd warmest on record in Alamosa, coming in just behind the warmest summer of 2011 with an average summer temperature of 65.3F. Alamosa recorded 4.44 inches of precipitation through the Summer of 2024. This is 1.68 inches above normal and makes the Summer of 2024 the 8th wettest summer on record in Alamosa, though well behind the wettest summer of 2022 when 6.69 inches of precipitation was recorded. The preliminary average temperature for the Summer of 2024 in Colorado Springs was 72.0F. This is 2.1 degrees above normal and makes the Summer of 2024 the 4th warmest summer on record in Colorado Springs, though well below the warmest summer of 2012, when the average summer temperature was 73.3 degrees. Colorado Springs recorded 6.59 inches of precipitation through the summer of 2024 This is 1.76 inches below normal and makes the Summer of 2024 the 53rd driest on record. This remains well ahead of the driest summer of 1939, when only 2.47 inches of precipitation was recorded. Colorado Springs recorded a high temperature of 100F on July 12th, marking only the 12th time on record that the temperature has topped out at or above the century mark in Colorado Springs. The preliminary average temperature for the Summer of 2024 in Pueblo was 76.9F. This is 2.3 degrees above normal and makes the Summer of 2024 tied as the 6th warmest summer on record in Pueblo. This is well below the warmest summer of 1970, when the average summer temperature was 77.7F. Pueblo recorded 5.37 inches of precipitation throughout the summer, which is 0.09 inches above normal.
