After a wet Spring of 2017, the first month of "Meteorological Summer" warmed up and dried out across south central and southeast Colorado. While some portions of Eastern Colorado saw spotty amounts of above normal precipitation through the month of June, along with bouts of severe weather,  most of south central and southeast Colorado saw above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation for the month as a whole. 

The following graphics depict monthly temperature and precipitation departures from normal across the state for the past month of June. 

 

The preliminary average temperature in Colorado Springs for the past month of June was 69.3 degrees. This is 4.2 degrees above normal and makes June of 2017 the 13th warmest June on record. This, however, remains well below the average temperature of 73.3 degrees recorded through out June of 2012.  Colorado Springs recorded 0.50 inches of precipitation through out the month of June, which is 2.00 inches below normal. 

 

The preliminary average temperature in Pueblo through out the month of June was 72.3 degrees, which is 2.3 degrees above normal. Pueblo recorded 1.57 inches of precipitation through the month of June, which is 0.21 inches above normal.    

    

The preliminary average temperature in Alamosa through out the month of June was 62.3 degrees. This is 2.7 degrees above normal and makes June of 2017, tied with June of 1994 and June of 1959, as the 12th warmest June on record in Alamosa. This, however, is well below the average temperature of 64.5 degrees, recorded through out June of 2012. Alamosa recorded 0.19 inches of precipitation through the month of June, which is 0.30 inches below normal.  

 

Looking ahead into July,  in Colorado Springs, the average high temperature of 84 degrees on July 1st, warms to 85 degrees by the 5th of the month, before cooling back to 84 degrees by the end of the month.  The average low temperature of 55 degrees on July 1st, warms to 58 degrees by the 21st of the month, before cooling back to 57 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of July in Colorado Springs is 70.9 degrees. Colorado Springs averages 2.84 inches of precipitation through out the month of July. On average, July is the second wettest month of the year in Colorado Springs. 

In Pueblo,  the average high temperature of 92 degrees on July 1st, warms to 94 degrees by the 10th of the month, before cooling back to 92 degrees by the end of the month.  The average low temperature of 57 degrees on July 1st, warms to 60 degrees by the 24th of the month, before cooling to 59 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of July in Pueblo is 75.8 degrees. Pueblo averages 2.06 inches of precipitation through out the month of July. On average, July is the second wettest month of the year in Pueblo. 

In Alamosa,  the average high temperature of 82 degrees on July 1st, warms to 83 degrees by the 4th of the month, before cooling to 81 degrees by the end of the month.  The average low temperature of 45 degrees on July 1st, warms to 48 degrees by the 18th of the month. The average temperature for the month of July in Alamosa is 64.6 degrees. Alamosa averages 0.97 inches of precipitation through out the month of July. On average, July is the second wettest month of the year in Alamosa.
