Pacific Storms Continue to Impact the West; Severe Thunderstorms Forecast Thursday in the South

A series of Pacific storm systems will continue to impact the Northwest U.S. into this coming weekend with periods of gusty winds, high surf, low elevation rain, and heavy mountain snow. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued across the upper and lower slopes of the Washington Cascades above 3000 feet from 1 PM Wednesday through 10 PM Thursday. Significant snowfall is expected, with amounts of 6-18 inches likely.
An incoming system will bring with it significant mountain snow across the Oregon Cascades and the northern Blue Mountains. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades from 1 PM Wednesday through 10 PM Thursday and for the Norther blue Mountains in Oregon and Washington from 10PM Wednesday through 4PM Thursday for elevations of 4000 feet and above. Winds will also be gusting as high as 45 mph, which may impact travel and visibilities as blowing snow will be possible.

That's right, another round of gusty southerlies across the foothills of the Blue Mountains, Central and North Central Oregon, and into the Grande Ronde Valley is expected Christmas night into early Thursday. If traveling, practice extra caution in these areas!
