Severe Weather Threat Shifted to the Southern Plains and Mid-South; Critical Fire Weather in the Southern Plains

Multiple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms may produce very large hail, swaths of damaging wind, a few tornadoes and heavy rain across parts of Texas into the lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys. KMQT Radar Down for Transmitter Refurbishment Week of Sept 9-13, 2019:

This maintenance will replace the radar's signal processor, as well as replace older breakers and cables with more modern fuses and new cables.

This process is known as the Service Life Extension Program, or SLEP.
