A major winter storm - blizzard affected portions of south central and southeast Wisconsin between 300 am and 300 pm on December 1, 2006. This was the first widespread winter storm for the 2006-07 winter season. The worst of the storm was over the counties of Waukesha, Milwaukee, Walworth, Racine, and Kenosha where at least 10 inches was measured. The U.S. Coast Guard Station in Kenosha measured 17 inches, the greatest total in south-central or southeast Wisconsin.
Outright blizzard conditions occurred between about 600 am and 1100 am within 3 to 5 miles of the Lake Michigan shoreline in the counties of Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha. Northerly winds gusted to 35 to 40 mph in this area, with visibilities reduced to zero to 1/4 mile.

Some thunder and lightning was noted around Port Washington as well. Over the remainder of the area east of State Highway 26, moderate to heavy snow occasionally reduced visibilities to 1/4 mile or less. A stretch of Interstate-94 east of Moorland road, where the road decends as one goes east, was closed for a while Friday morning to allow snowplow crews time to push the snow to the roadside. Airplane flights were eiither delayed or cancelled at Milwaukee Mitchell International airport.
