November 20-21st, 2015 Southern Wisconsin Snow Storm

Southern Wisconsin was hit by a major snowstorm that was impressive for any time during a winter season, much less one that occurred in November.   The storm (surface low pressure) tracked from eastern/northeast Kansas early Friday evening,  November 20th, to St. Louis to Indianapolis by mid-day on the 21st.  But, typical for these early season lows, the warm Great Lakes likely resulted in a trof axis extending from the low north into Lake Michigan. This likely helped the moisture and forcing to reach farther north than that southern track would normally allow.

Below is the 2-day accumulation:

Here is a 24 hour loop of radar during the event.  The loop is composed of 30 minute time steps starting at 2 PM CST, November 20th and running through 1:30 PM CST November 21st, 2015.   Click the image for a larger version of the loop (about 7mb).
