Severe Weather and Excessive Rainfall Threats

Rain with embedded thunderstorms will continue to impact the central portions of the country and Southern Florida through the middle of the week. Instances of flash flooding and severe thunderstorms are in the forecast for these aforementioned areas. NWS Memphis Weather-Ready Classes

 

Each spring and fall the National Weather Service in Memphis conducts weather safety and preparedness training sessions. The class is free and open to everyone and typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Registration is only required for the virtual classes. The following topics will be covered in the class:

  • About the National Weather Service
  • Important NWS Terminology 
  • Weather Safety and Preparedness
  • Thunderstorms & Severe Weather Information
  • Other Common Weather Hazards in the Mid-South
  • Weather Monitoring and Resources
