AVERAGE TO ABOVE AVERAGE.  PRECIPITATION IN MONTANA WAS ABOVE
AVERAGE, WITH AMOUNTS  RANGING FROM 11 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
(0.05 IN.) NEAR CUT BANK, MT TO 405% OF AVERAGE (3.12 IN.) NEAR
BRUSETT, MT.  PRECIPITATION IN WYOMING WAS ABOVE
AVERAGE WITH REPORTS RANGING FROM 17 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
(0.13 IN.) NEAR WAPITI, WY TO 274 PERCENT OF AVERAGE (2.66 IN.)
NEAR MAMMOTH, WY. PRECIPITATION IN NORTHEASTERN COLORADO
WAS ABOVE AVERAGE WITH REPORTS RANGING FROM 45 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE (0.31 IN.) NEAR BRIGGSDALE, CO TO 327 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE (3.07 IN.) NEAR BURLINGTON, CO.

October 2006 Basin Mean Precipitation

 

STORED  WATER IN THE  SOUTH  PLATTE  BASIN AS OF NOVEMBER 1
WAS 72 PERCENT OF  AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR.
OF THE FOUR MAJOR IRRIGATION  RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA, LIMA
RESERVOIR HAD 127 PERCENT  AVERAGE  STORAGE; CLARK CANYON WAS
HOLDING 61 PERCENT OF AVERAGE WATER, GIBSON RESERVOIR HAD
36 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER AND  FRESNO RESERVOIR
HAD  79 PERCENT  OF AVERAGE STORED WATER.  OF THE THREE
MAJOR HYDROELECTRIC  RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA, CANYON  FERRY
AND FORT PECK HAD  MONTHEND STORAGE IN THE AVERAGE RANGE;
89 AND 59 PERCENT OF AVERAGE WATER, RESPECTIVELY.  BIGHORN
RESERVOIR WAS HOLDING 77 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER.

RUNOFF DURING OCTOBER, AS INDICATED BY U.S.  GEOLOGICAL
SURVEY LONG TERM GAGING  STATIONS,  WAS  BELOW  AVERAGE.
THE MARIAS  RIVER NEAR SHELBY,   MONTANA   HAD  42  PERCENT
OF  AVERAGE   RUNOFF. THE YELLOWSTONE  RIVER WAS ESTIMATED TO
HAVE HAD 86  PERCENT  OF AVERAGE  RUNOFF AT CORWIN SPRINGS,
WHILE AT  BILLINGS,  MONTANA RUNOFF WAS 54 PERCENT OF AVERAGE.
