UPPER MISSOURI BASIN
JUNE PRECIPITATION WAS ABOVE AVERAGE ACROSS THE UPPER MISSOURI
BASIN.  BASIN PRECIPITATION SUMMARIES FOR THE MISSOURI BASIN INCLUDE:
MILK ST. MARY, 91 PERCENT; MILK CANADA, 122 PERCENT; LOWER MILK, 161
PERCENT; ABOVE TOSTON, 131 PERCENT; TOSTON TO FT. PECK, 145 PERCENT.

OF THE FOUR MAJOR IRRIGATION RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA:  LIMA RESERVOIR
HAD 158 PERCENT AVERAGE STORAGE, CLARK CANYON WAS HOLDING 166 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE WATER, GIBSON RESERVOIR HAD 106 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED
WATER, AND FRESNO RESERVOIR HAD 93 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER.
THE  MAJOR  HYDROELECTRIC  RESERVOIRS  IN  MONTANA (CANYON  FERRY AND
FORT PECK) HAD MONTHEND STORAGE IN THE ABOVE AVERAGE RANGE; 106 AND
129 PERCENT OF AVERAGE WATER, RESPECTIVELY.

AS INDICATED BY THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL LONG TERM GAGING STATIONS,
THE MARIAS RIVER NEAR SHELBY, MONTANA HAD AN ESTIMATED 232 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE RUNOFF IN JUNE.

 

YELLOWSTONE BASIN

 

PRECIPITATION DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE WAS ABOUT 62 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE IN THE WIND RIVER BASIN ABOVE BOYSEN RESERVOIR, 83 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE IN THE UPPER YELLOWSTONE BASIN, 94 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
IN THE BIGHORN BASIN, AND 87 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN THE LITTLE
BIGHORN BASINS-UPPER TONGUE BASINS, 93 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN THE
POWDER RIVER BASIN, AND 112 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN THE LOWER
YELLOWSTONE BASIN.

MONTHEND STORAGE WAS 116 PERCENT OF AVERAGE AT BIGHORN RESERVOIR ON
THE WYOMING/MONTANA BORDER. MONTHEND STORAGE WAS NOT REPORTED AT
BOYSEN RESERVOIR OR AT BUFFALO BILL RESERVOIR IN WYOMING.

RUNOFF DURING JUNE 2011 IN THE YELLOWSTONE RIVER WAS 156 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE AT CORWIN SPRINGS AND 154 PERCENT OF NORMAL AT BILLINGS,

Platte Basin

 

PRECIPITATION DURING JUNE IN THE PLATTE BASIN WAS BELOW
AVERAGE. JUNE PRECIPITATION IN THE NORTH PLATTE BASIN
ABOVE SEMINOE RESERVOIR WAS 57 PERCENT OF AVERAGE. IN THE
NORTH PLATTE BASIN BETWEEN SEMINOE RESERVOIR AND GUERNSY
RESERVOIR PRECIPITATION WAS 80 PERCENT OF AVERAGE. THE NORTH
PLATTE BASIN BELOW GUERNSY RESERVOIR HAD 103 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
PRECIPITATION. THE HIGH ELEVATIONS OF THE SOUTH PLATTE BASIN HAD
63 PERCENT OF AVERAGE JUNE PRECIPITATION WHEREAS THE PLAINS
HAD 75 PERCENT OF AVERAGE PRECIPITATION.

STORED WATER IN THE SOUTH PLATTE BASIN STORED WATER WAS 103 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE.
