Severe thunderstorms are possible from the Ohio Valley to the central Plains this evening, and the threat will expand into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Monday. Hazardous heat will linger across the southern U.S. and build across the West through mid-week. Hot and dry conditions will fuel fire weather concerns for Alaska through this evening and for the Four Corners region through Monday. Read More >

The 5-day outlook shows a quiet finish to the weekend with some increase in clouds. Monday will be a more active weather day with the threat of severe weather and some flash flooding. This all occurs in response to a strong cold front approaching from the west. Some showers may linger into Tue before conditions turn quieter by mid-week. Another trough increases shower chances by Thursday.
The threat of severe weather will increase ahead of a potent cold front which nears the region on Monday. During the afternoon to late evening hours, damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes are possible.
Anomalous moisture moving through the region will aid in producing locally heavy rainfall with any thunderstorms. Expect multiple rounds of storms which will make flash flooding possible, especially in the urban areas.
