Showers are anticipated this morning across northern/western Maryland and eastern West Virginia, with more scattered showers and a few thunderstorms possible this afternoon into the early evening mainly east of I-81. Additional showers and a few thunderstorms are possible Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. Temperatures will climb through Sunday before cooling off again on Monday in the wake of a cold front. Frost or freeze conditions are possible for some locations west of the Blue Ridge Mountains Monday night.
A recent update to the Drought Monitor has maintained widespread D2 (Severe Drought) conditions to the region. Additionally, D3 (Extreme Drought) conditions are now in place along the I-64 corridor.
