Areas of Severe Thunderstorms, Excessive Rainfall, and Extreme Heat Tuesday

In the Northern Plains into the Upper Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic, heavy to excessive rain may bring flash and urban flooding Tuesday. While temperatures will be cooler than the previous several days, the risk for severe thunderstorms and flash flooding continues. This frontal system does not clear the area until late Tuesday which will leave the weather more unsettled. While not as widespread as recent days, further showers and thunderstorms are possible each day this week.
A stalled frontal zone in the presence of tropical moisture will increase the risk of flash flooding across the region this afternoon and evening. Please check out weather.gov/lwx for the latest on Flood Watches across the region.
A review of all of the daily temperature records is shown. In total, 20 records were broken which includes tying the all-time record low at Reagan National Airport (84 degrees on July 3).
