Severe Weather in the Plains; Heavy Rainfall in the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys; Heat Wave in the Central U.S.

Numerous severe storms with a potential for severe wind gusts, tornadoes (some potentially strong), and very large hail are expected in parts of the central and northern Plains. TUESDAY JUNE 9, 2026: There is a chance of t-storms west of I-81. Otherwise, more clouds than sun and increasing humidity. Much hotter and more humid by mid-week with increased thunderstorm chances.
With May 2026 in the books, Meteorological Spring (March-May) has concluded. It was a very mild period with continued below average rainfall amounts. 6 of the 8 climate sites saw average temperatures reaching the top 10 mark within historical records. High temperatures were especially warm, averaging 3 to 5 degrees above climatology.
