Dangerous Heat in the Central and Eastern U.S.; Severe Thunderstorms in the Central U.S. and Northeast; Critical Fire Weather in the Four Corners

Dangerous, record-breaking heat will intensify across most of the central and eastern U.S this week. Heat indices will likely exceed 100 degrees. Severe thunderstorms are forecast from parts of the central High Plains into the Upper Midwest, and across parts of the Northeast. The Pikesville NOAA Weather Radio Transmitter KEC-83, located in
Pikesville, Maryland and broadcasting on a frequency of 162.400
megahertz, has encountered a mechanical error that is causing a
degraded transmission. Technicians have identified the issue, but
will be unable to make full repair until at least Thursday June
27th, 2024. Listeners on this frequency should have alternative
methods to receive weather watches and warnings. We apologize for
any inconvenience this may cause.
