Severe Thunderstorms in the East This Evening; Excessive Heat Lingers in the Southern U.S.

Scattered to numerous damaging wind gusts and isolated flash flooding is likely from severe thunderstorms across parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States into this evening. Large hail and damaging winds should also occur from southern Montana into western North Dakota. Student Introductory Presentation

This portion of the event will run from 11:00 AM until 1 PM, and will be available to pre-selected school groups by invitation only.
USAF Reserve, WC-130J

This aircraft will be on the tarmac just outside the hangar throughout the event.  Visitors will be able to participate in guided walk-throughs of this aircraft and interact with it's crew.

NOAA P-3

This aircraft will be on the tarmac just outside the hangar throughout the event.  Visitors will be able to participate in guided walk-throughs of this aircraft and interact with it's crew.

NOAA King Air

This aircraft will be on display throughout the duration of the event.  This aircraft will be in the hangar and visitors will be able to walk around and learn more about this aircraft via it's crew and static displays outside the aircraft.

NOAA Gulfstream IV

This aircraft will be on display throughout the duration of the event.  This aircraft will be in the hangar and visitors will be able to walk around and learn more about this aircraft via it's crew and static displays outside the aircraft.

Public Safety and Preparedness Exhibits and Displays                                           

In addition to the aircraft, several NWS partners will be on hand staffing exhibits and display booths to join us in our effort to promote hurricane awareness, preparedness, and resiliency.  Examples of such partners and exhibits include:  American Red Cross, Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH), FEMA, the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington forecast office, and many others. This portion of the tour will be available to all visitors and will run through the duration of the event.

Tuesday May 9th:

 

8:15 AM - 9:00 AM C130 and Gulfstream IV - Land and Set-Up.  (King Air & P-3 arrive Monday evening)
10:00 AM - 10:30 AM Media Briefing & Event Kick-Off
10:30 AM - 11:30 PM VIP and Media Tours
11:00 AM - 2:30 PM Pre-scheduled student tours (tours by invitation only)
2:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Event Open to the Public for Tours. Registration is not required. Those wishing to attend can simply show up. While gates close at 4:30pm, those inside may tour until 5pm.
