Severe Thunderstorm Threat From the Central Plains to the Northeast; Extreme HeatRisk for the East Coast

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible from the central Plains to the Northeast through this evening. Widespread damaging winds are the primary threat but hail and a tornado or two is also possible. Sparse severe weather led to another relatively quiet spring this year. We did record four tornadoes, but all were weak and short-lived. On the other side of the coin, we experienced an unusual late season snow on April 20-21 when two inches fell on parts of central Kentucky during the overnight hours.
