An EF1 tornado touched down at 11:54pm southwest of Brandenburg near the intersection of Richardson Road and Estes Drive.  The tornado moved to the northeast into the city of Brandenburg.  After crossing the Brandenburg By-Pass the tornado impacted the city between Old State Road and Broadway.

Extensive tree damage and power line damage was observed in the vicinity of Happy Ridge Road, Wood Dale Road, and Maple Grove Drive.  Wind speeds in those areas were on the order of 85 mph.

The tornado continued to around the intersection of Broadway and Lakeview Drive.  Here building damage was noted to the Big-O Tires Store where a cinder block storage building was toppled.  The Meade County Clothes Closet suffered extensive damage as the tornado knocked down an exterior wall.  A storage building across the street from the First Federal Bank was lifted up and thrown across Broadway.  The Old Brandenburg Telephone Company office suffered roof damage.

Large twisted trees were seen near the intersection of Cedarcrest Drive and Springdale Road.  A resident reported hearing a loud roaring sound just before midnight.

Building damage also took place at Saint John Catholic Church and near the intersection of KY 933 and Broadway.  All of the damage in the Broadway area was caused by tornadic winds of 100 mph.

The tornado continued to plow northeast and effected areas near Lafayette Street and River Road before lifting at the Ohio River shore at 12:05am.
