Heavy Snow from the Midwest into the Great Lakes; Locally Heavy Rain in the Western Gulf Coast

A significant winter storm will produce a broad area of moderate to heavy snow from the Midwest through the western Great Lakes. Significant snow accumulations of 6-12 inches, and locally more than 1 foot, and gusty wind may cause hazardous travel conditions. On May 28, 1996 an F4 tornado touched down in Jefferson Memorial Forest southwest of Louisville and tore through northern Bullitt County and western Spencer County.  The Louisville NWS office has created a poster about this event.  Also, we are grateful for the following photos that were shared with us (click on an image to see a larger version):
