Yesterday, August 13th, NWS employees and volunteers paid a visit to LG&E's Trimble County power plant. The visit between the partnering groups began with presentations covering the operations of each organization. That was followed by a full tour of the coal powered electricity generating facilities. The journey of coal from barges on the Ohio River to the collection of harmful byproducts for environmental reasons were all covered. Some of the collected byproducts from the process of burning coal are used to make dry wall, roofing shingles, and asphalt.

The smoke stack produces a cloud which can spit rain over the plant.
