Harrison County, Indiana

60-70 mph Straight Line Winds

On May 29, 2008, the National Weather Service went on a belated storm damage survey in Harrison County Indiana, investigating possible damage from the Feb 5th and 6th severe weather outbreak. The team attempted to follow the track of the storm which produced an EF1 tornado in Brandenburg, and then crossed into Harrison County, Indiana.  Straight line wind damage was observed on Tobacco Landing Road, with multiple softwood and hardwood trees knocked down in a west to east fashion. Winds were estimated at 60 to 70 mph. No structures were damaged in the vicinity. Further north, on Scenic View Drive, a house's siding was torn off as well as roof damage done to a barn. Both of them had to be replaced. On northern Tobacco Landing Road near Mosquito Creek Road, a large grove of hardwood trees had several large branches broken along with the tops being twisted off. Some tops of a few trees were snapped off. Further northeast, a shed was demolished, with some large limbs reported down.
