Mitchell Collection banner

The following photos of Louisville's Great Flood of 1937 were graciously shared with us by Pam Mitchell, who found them stored in a box that had been saved by her father, James B. Mitchell.  Mr. Mitchell was born in Bardstown and took the photos when he was 22 years old.  The photos are excellent and we are pleased to display them here.

We know the pictures are of Louisville and Jeffersonville, but otherwise the photographs were not annotated.  In some of the shots certain landmarks can be easily identified, but most of the locations are a mystery.  If you can identify any of the locales in the photos, we would apprecaite it if you could let us know (thanks to David Stockhoff for his assistance!).
