Weather Forecast Office
On Friday, November 13, 2015, 15-20 University of Louisville students and their professor visited our National Weather Service office for a tour. Everyone gathered in our conference room, where Science and Operations Officer Ted Funk gave them on overview of the NWS, including our core mission, hazardous weather, and the decision support services we provide. The students are not atmospheric science majors, but are taking an introduction to meteorology elective course.
Following the presentation, everyone congregated in our operations area, where Ted discussed forecast operations, and showed how we assess various datasets on our computer workstations to compose and disseminate daily forecasts and hazardous weather warnings.
All in attendance seem to enjoy the visit.
