Weather Forecast Office
On Tuesday, November 10, 2015, 8 students and 2 professors from the University of Louisville's atmospheric science program came to National Weather Service Louisville for a tour of our operations. We discussed the forecast and warning process, along with what is meant by decision support services (DSS).
In addition, Science and Operations Officer Ted Funk and Forecaster Brian Schoettmer gave short presentations on cool season severe weather patterns, the effect of El Nino on winter temperature and precipitation in the Ohio Valley, and an overview of our aviation and fire weather services programs. All those in attendance enjoyed the visit and seminar. The students are part of a local American Meteorological Society chapter at the university.
