Gusty Winds in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast; Atmospheric River to Impact the Northwest

Gusty winds are expected from portions of the Mid-Atlantic into the Northeast through the night following the system that brought rain to the area. An atmospheric river will move into the Northwest late today into Saturday bringing moderate to heavy rainfall, mountain snow, windy conditions, and high surf to the area over the weekend. Showers and storms end this morning. Then more showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and/or tonight. Some of the storms late today and tonight may be severe with damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. In addition, a flash flood watch is in effect for south-central Indiana and much of central Kentucky (except parts of south-central KY). Periods of very heavy rain could cause local flash flooding late today or tonight. Keep aware of the weather situation today and tonight, and have an action plan in case severe weather or flash flooding threatens your area!
