Lala Approaching Hawaii; Flash Flooding Risks; Excessive Heat

Lala, may become a hurricane, is expected to impact Hawaii this weekend. Heavy rainfall, strong winds, dangerous surf and localized flooding are expected. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding concerns from the mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley into the central Appalachians continues, with the threat shifting toward the mid-Atlantic later this weekend. John Belski, a meteorologist at WLKY with plenty of experience in the Ohio River Valley, participated in our annual winter weather roundtable discussion here at the National Weather Service in Louisville.  John provided feedback on the products we issue and participated in our discussion on some of the newer products we are working on for future seasons.  We appreciated him taking the time to come help us get ready for winter and for giving us his insight.
