Additional Heavy Rain and Flooding Concerns in Central Texas; Tropical Storm Chantal to Impact the Coastal Carolinas

Heavy rainfall and flooding concerns remain for today across Central Texas and the Hill Country, with scattered thunderstorms expected this afternoon and evening. Tropical Storm Chantal has formed and will bring heavy rainfall and flooding concerns to portions of the coastal Carolinas. Valparaiso meteorology student Madison Wallner came down several times during her fall semester work to volunteer at the NWS Louisville office.  She worked on a project to collect radar imagery and data for tornadoes that have touched down in the area.  The goal is to be able to filter the data by strength of radar signature and to look at how imagery changes by distance from the radar.  In addition the project will help with some further projects soon to be done on squall line tornadoes in our region.  Thanks Madison for the hard work you've put into this project!
