Severe Thunderstorm Threat From the Central Plains to the Northeast; Extreme HeatRisk for the East Coast

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible from the central Plains to the Northeast through this evening. Widespread damaging winds are the primary threat but hail and a tornado or two is also possible. Valparaiso meteorology student Madison Wallner came down several times during her fall semester work to volunteer at the NWS Louisville office. She worked on a project to collect radar imagery and data for tornadoes that have touched down in the area. The goal is to be able to filter the data by strength of radar signature and to look at how imagery changes by distance from the radar. In addition the project will help with some further projects soon to be done on squall line tornadoes in our region. Thanks Madison for the hard work you've put into this project!
