Surveyed Damage Track Near Vancleave, MS

A National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team has surveyed the storm damage near Vancleave, MS.. It has been determined the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. Damage estimates were consistent with winds of 100 mph.

The tornado touched down just southwest of the south end of Jim Ramsey Rd. moving northeast with minor damage on Fox Run Dr. The majority of the damage was on Fox Ridge Dr.  Multiple manufactured homes had undercarriage and roof damage and were shifted off their foundation.  None of the straps holding the homes to the foundation blocks were snapped. One manufactured home was split down the middle, but that portion that was split off was an addition to the home and was not anchored to the original structure properly.  The failure of this addition pulled the rest of the home down with it.  Uprooted and snapped trees were also noted in this area with many in a convergent pattern.  The tornado ended near the intersection of Jim Ramsey Rd.  and John Smith Rd. with minor roof damage to a well built home and damage to a nearby barn observed.  Two large trees were also uprooted at this location.
