ASSIST A BOAT IN DISTRESS DROWNED IN THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER NEAR FORT

SEVERAL COUNTY AND BACK ROADS WERE CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING AND A FEW
HOMES RECEIVED DAMAGE DUE TO RISING WATER. A SMALL NUMBER OF

COUNTY. ADDITIONALLY...350 HOMES WERE LEFT WITHOUT POWER.

BILOXI WHILE A MAN AND HIS SON WERE INSIDE. NEITHER WAS HURT.

SEVERAL ROADS OUTSIDE OF LEVEE PROTECTION WERE CLOSED DUE TO
FLOODING.

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRED IN LOW-LYING AREAS SUCH AS LACOMBE...BAYOU
LIBERTY AND THE RIGOLETS. THERE WERE NO REPORTS OF DAMAGE TO HOMES
OR OTHER BUILDINGS.

A 1000 FOOT SECTION OF LOCAL LEVEE ON THE WESTERN SIDE OF GRAND ISLE
COLLAPSED ON THE MORNING OF THE 9TH AS WATERS FROM BARATARIA BAY
BEGAN TO RISE. TWO OR THREE HOMES WERE THREATENED BY THE LEVEE
FAILURE WITH THE LAND UNDERNEATH THE ELEVATED CAMPS THREATENING TO
ERODE. ADDITIONALLY... STORM SURGE ERODED 100 TO 200 FEET OF BEACH
AND CUT A NEW PASS THROUGH ELMER'S ISLAND ADJACENT TO GRAND ISLE.
