Winds and waves/seas are expected to continue to increase today in response to Hurricane Helene in the eastern Gulf. Dangerous seas and swells around 11 to 16 feet can be expected for outer Gulf waters, with gale-force winds to 40 knots. For mainly nearshore waters and lakes and sounds, small craft advisory conditions can be expected with north to northeast winds 20 to 25 knots and gusts to 30 with high waves around 3 to 5 feet for lakes and sounds to 5 to 7 feet for nearshore. Dangerous conditions will continue tonight before improving some going into early Friday. Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous marine time conditions.
