DESCRIPTION
---------------------------------------------------------------------
JACKSON 0 0 26+
IMPACTS IN THE COUNTY WERE PRIMARILY THE RESULT OF STORM SURGE
FLOODING AND GUSTY WINDS. 62 ROADS WERE COVERED WITH WATER TO VARIOUS
DEPTHS, MAINLY NEAR THE IMMEDIATE COAST. HOWEVER, FEW ROADS WERE ALSO
FLOODED FROM WATER MOVING UP THE PASCAGOULA RIVER FROM THE MS SOUND.
STORM SURGE AND WAVE ACTION ALSO DAMAGED THE BOARDWALK/FISHING PIER
IN DOWNTOWN MOSS POINT ON THE ESCATAWPA RIVER. SEVERAL WIND GUSTS IN
EXCESS OF 50 MPH WERE REPORTED ACROSS THE FAR EASTERN PORTION OF THE
COUNTY. THESE WINDS DOWNED DOZENS OF TREES ACROSS AREAS GENERALLY
EAST OF THE PASCAGOULA RIVER, WITH 20 TREES BLOCKING ROADS. TWO
TREES FELL ON HOUSES, ONE IN ESCATAWPA AND ONE IN NORTH MOSS POINT.
THANKFULLY NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED ASSOCIATED WITH THE DOWNED
TREES. THE COUNTY OPENED TWO SHELTERS AND HOUSED A TOTAL OF 26
PEOPLE DURING THE STORM.
PLAQUEMINES 0 0 61+
IMPACTS IN THE PARISH WERE PRIMARILY THE RESULT OF STORM SURGE AND
AFFECTED ONLY AREAS OUTSIDE THE HSDRRS LEVEES. SEVERAL ROADS WERE
COVERED WITH WATER. SPECIFICALLY, TIDEWATER ROAD AND ADJACENT
ROADWAYS IN THE VENICE AREA WERE IMPASSIBLE DUE TO 1-2 FT OF
INUNDATION. TROPICAL STORM FORCE GUSTS WERE REPORTED MAINLY IN THE
SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE PARISH, WITH OBSERVATION SITES IN BOTH BURAS
AND VENICE REPORTING PEAK WIND GUSTS OF 45-50 MPH. THE PARISH EM
REPORTED ROUGHLY 50-75% OF THOSE UNDER MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDERS
DID EVACUATE, WITH 61 PEOPLE SEEKING SHELTER AT THE PARISH SHELTER.
HANCOCK 0 0 UNK
IMPACTS IN THE PARISH WERE THE RESULT OF STORM SURGE. AT THE TIME OF
HIGHEST WATER, AROUND 100 LOW LYING ROADWAYS IN THE COUNTY WERE
COVERED BY VARYING DEPTHS OF WATER WITH AROUND 10 BECOMING
IMPASSIBLE.
ST. BERNARD 0 0 UNK
IMPACTS IN THE PARISH WERE THE RESULT OF STORM SURGE AND AFFECTED
ONLY AREAS OUTSIDE THE HSDRRS LEVEES. STORM SURGE FLOODING
OVERTOPPED RING LEVEES IN THE DELACROIX AND WOODLAKE AREAS,
RESULTING IN ONE TO TWO FEET OF INUNDATION INSIDE THOSE LEVEED
AREAS. THE LOWER PORTION OF THE PARISH BELOW THE VERRET FLOOD GATES
WAS CUT OFF DUE TO FLOODING.
LAFOURCHE 0 0 UNK
IMPACTS IN THE PARISH WERE THE RESULT OF STORM SURGE. DURING THE
TIME OF HIGHEST INUNDATION, 2 TO 3 FEET OF WATER COVERED PORTIONS OF
LA HWY 1 SOUTH OF THE GOLDEN MEADOW FLOOD GATE. THE ROAD WAS CLOSED,
COMPLETELY CUTTING OFF AREAS SOUTH OF THE FLOOD GATE.
ST. TAMMANY 0 0 UNK
IMPACTS IN THE PARISH WERE THE RESULT OF STORM SURGE. LOW LYING
PORTIONS OF THE PARISH, INCLUDING PALM LAKE, SALT BAYOU AND BAYOU
LIBERTY IN SLIDELL AND THE LAKESHORE AREA OF MANDEVILLE WERE
AFFECTED BY FLOODING.
ORLEANS 0 0 UNK
IMPACTS IN THE PARISH WERE THE RESULT OF STORM SURGE AND AFFECTED
AREAS OUTSIDE THE HSDRRS LEVEES. 1 TO 2 FEET OF INUNDATION AFFECTED
THE LOWEST LYING PORTIONS OF THE PARISH AROUND LAKE CATHERINE AND
THROUGH IRISH BAYOU. WATER COVERED HWY 90 AND OTHER STREETS IN THE
VENETIAN ISLES AREA.
JEFFERSON 0 0 ~900
IMPACTS IN THE PARISH WERE THE RESULT OF STORM SURGE AND AFFECTED
AREAS OUTSIDE THE HSDRRS LEVEES. THE GREATEST IMPACTS WERE ACROSS
THE SOUTHERN END OF THE PARISH. STORM SURGE FLOODING AFFECTED MUCH
OF GRAND ISLE, INUNDATING SOME AREAS WITH 1 TO 2 FEET OF WATER.
THE AREA WAS CUT OFF WHEN HWY 1 WAS CLOSED IN LAFOURCHE PARISH.
THE MAYOR OF GRAND ISLE ESTIMATES AROUND 90% OF ITS 1100 RESIDENTS
EVACUATED AHEAD OF THE STORM.
