GENERAL REMARKS: A TIGHT PRESSURE GRADIENT BETWEEN BETA AND A HIGH
PRESSURE TO THE NORTHEAST RESULTED IN PERSISTENT MODERATE TO STRONG
ONSHORE EAST AND NORTHEAST WINDS ACROSS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA AND
SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI. THE PEAK WINDS AND PEAK WATER LEVELS BELOW
COVER THE PERIOD FROM 12Z SEPTEMBER 19TH THROUGH 12Z SEPTEMBER 23RD.
IN GENERAL, THE STRONGEST WINDS AND HIGHEST WATER LEVELS OCCURRED
WHEN BETA'S CENTER OF CIRCULATION WAS WELL REMOVED FROM THE LOCAL
AREA AND THUS MUCH OF THE LOCAL IMPACT MAY BE CONSIDERED INDIRECT.
WHILE TROPICAL STORM WATCHES AND WARNINGS WERE ISSUED FOR PORTIONS
OF THE COASTAL WATERS, NO TROPICAL HEADLINES WERE HOISTED FOR LAND
AREAS.

HANCOCK 0 0 UNK
COASTAL FLOODING HAD MODERATE IMPACTS ACROSS LOW LYING PORTIONS OF
THE COUNTY. DOZENS OF ROADS WERE COVERED BY WATER IN PARTS OF BAY
ST. LOUIS AND DIAMONDHEAD, WITH NUMEROUS BECOMING IMPASSIBLE TO
CARS.
JEFFERSON 0 0 UNK
COASTAL FLOODING HAD MODERATE IMPACTS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE PARISH.
IMPACTS WERE GREATEST ON GRAND ISLE WHERE WATER WAS NEARLY WAIST-
DEEP IN SOME AREAS. GRAND ISLE WAS CUT OFF FROM THE MAINLAND DUE TO
HIGH WATER ON LA HWY 1. A FEW ROADS AROUND LAFITTE WERE ALSO CLOSED
DUE TO HIGH WATER.
LAFOURCHE 0 0 UNK
COASTAL FLOODING HAD MODERATE IMPACTS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN END OF THE
PARISH. PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 1 BECAME IMPASSIBLE TO VEHICLES AND WAS
CLOSED SOUTH OF THE GOLDEN MEADOW FLOOD GATE. THE HIGHWAY IS THE
ONLY ACCESS ROAD TO PORT FOURCHON AND GRAND ISLE, MEANING BOTH
COMMUNITIES WERE CUT OFF BY THE FLOODING.
ORLEANS 0 0 UNK
COASTAL FLOODING RESULTED IN MINOR IMPACTS TO FAR EASTERN PORTIONS
OF THE PARISH OUTSIDE OF THE HURRICANE RISK REDUCTION SYSTEM LEVEES.
US HWY 90 AND SEVERAL STREETS IN THE VENETIAN ISLES AREA WERE
COVERED WITH OVER 1 FT OF WATER.
PLAQUEMINES 0 0 UNK
COASTAL FLOODING RESULTED IN 1-2 FT OF WATER COVERING HWY 39 FOR
5 MILES BETWEEN WHITE DITCH AND PHOENIX. THERE ARE NO BACK LEVEES
IN THAT AREA. NO HOMES OR BUSINESSES WERE FLOODED.
ST. BERNARD 0 0 UNK
COASTAL FLOODING RESULTED IN MINOR IMPACTS ACROSS EASTERN PARTS OF
THE PARISH OUTSIDE OF THE HURRICANE RISK REDUCTION SYSTEM LEVEES.
LA HWY 46 WAS COVERED IN WATER BUT STILL PASSABLE TO VEHICLES FROM
REGGIO TO DELACROIX.
ST. JOHN 0 0 UNK
COASTAL FLOODING RESULTED IN MINOR IMPACTS ACROSS THE LOWEST LYING
PORTIONS OF THE PARISH NEAR LAKES PONTCHARTRAIN AND MAUREPAS. THE
I-55 OFF RAMPS AT RUDDOCK WERE CLOSED DUE TO HIGH WATER ON THE OLD
US HWY 51. WATER ALSO COVERED THE ROAD NEAR MANCHAC, BUT IT
REMAINED PASSABLE.
ST. TAMMANY 0 0 UNK
