REMARKS: USCOE AND USGS GAUGES DO NOT HAVE PREDICTED TIDE LEVELS
THEREFORE SURGE IS ESTIMATED USING PRE-STORM BASELINE. ESTIMATED
SURGE VALUES ARE DENOTED WITH AN E. ALSO OF NOTE...NOS GAUGES ARE
REFERENCED TO MHHW. THIS RESULTS IN A MAXIMUM SURGE VALUE GREATER
THAN THE MAXIMUM TOTAL WATER LEVEL IF THE MAXIMUM SURGE OCCURRED
OUTSIDE OF ASTRONOMICAL HIGH TIDE. FOR INSTANCE...THE PEAK TOTAL
WATER LEVEL MHHW AT SHELL BEACH WAS MEASURED AT 4.80 FEET. HOWEVER
BECAUSE IT OCCURRED JUST AFTER LOW TIDE...THE PREDICTED WATER
LEVEL AT THE SAME TIME WAS -1.27 FEET SO THE SURGE WAS 6.07 FEET.
