Powerful Pacific System Impacting the West; First Significant Snow for Portions of the East

Power Pacific system will continue to bring significant impacts for Pacific Northwest into northern California the remainder of the week. Valentine Labor Day Climatology

The end of summer officially falls on the vernal equinox, however many consider Labor Day to be the end of summer. By Labor Day, kids have returned to school, football is in full swing, and summer vacations have ended. Labor Day originated in the late 1800s and has always been observed on the first Monday of September, which varies from the 1st of the month to the 7th. The weather can vary greatly during this transition from the ‘dog days of summer’ to the frosty fall conditions that change the color of the leaves. This study looks at past Labor Day weather conditions reported in Valentine since 1889.
