Overview
Supercell thunderstorms initiated across the central Sandhills during the early afternoon hours of June 7, 2024, along the intersection of a triple point (cold front/dryline, warm front and inverted surface trough/area of low pressure. These storms quickly strengthened as they moved east and eventually southeast into Custer Country, Nebraska, producing large hail, strong wind and a tornado.
