River Outlook Forecast

Updated at 10:00 PM CDT May 11, 2016

North Platte River

Recent heavy rains in Wyoming, plus additional snowmelt runoff from the mountain snowpack, has resulted in increased flows along the North Platte River. These increased flows, will cause the North Platte River above Lake McConaughy at Lisco and Lewellen, to rise through the week. A Flood Warning is in effect along the river in Garden County, Keith County upstream of Lake McConaughy, and near North Platte.

South Platte River

Recent rainfall and snowfall from Northeast Colorado into Southwest Nebraska will cause the South Platte River to remain elevated through the week. Despite the high river levels, no flooding is currently expected at Roscoe or North Platte through at least Friday.

Elkhorn River

Recent rainfall over North Central Nebraska has caused the Elkhorn River at Atkinson to rise above flood stage. Additional rises are possible as rain runoff works into the river. A Flood Warning remains in effect through 6 PM CDT Thursday along the river from Stuart to O'Neill.
