Severe thunderstorms are expected to move across the area this afternoon through tonight. The primary risk will be damaging winds with gusts as high as 70 mph possible. There exists potential for a widespread damaging wind event. Tornadoes will be possible and a strong tornado can't be ruled out, particularly within the highlighted "Enhanced" outlook areas. Large hail between quarter and golf ball size will also be possible across the area.
Locally heavy rainfall will be possible across central and northern portions of the area. Most areas within the "Limited" outlook area will see 1 to 2 inches of rain. Locally higher amounts of 3 to 6 inches in a short amount of time will be possible with training, slow moving storms. These areas could experience localized flash flooding, particularly in low lying and urban areas.
During the afternoon on Wednesday, showers and isolated strong to marginally severe storms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds could develop across portions of the area. These storms will diminish into the evening.
