Areas of dense fog are possible across the area through Thursday morning. When encountering fog, be sure to slow down and use low beam headlights.
Dangerous cold is expected again this weekend along with gusty winds resulting in wind chills near zero in some locations. Frostbite can occur quickly and hypothermia is likely with prolonged exposure to these temperatures. Damage to exposed pipes and water main breaks will be likely. Power outages in some areas will continue to make the cold more dangerous and winds could complicate any remaining restoration efforts.
There is a threat for strong winds as arctic air surges into the area Friday night and Saturday. Aside from creating dangerous wind chill readings, these winds could become strong enough to damage trees, especially those already weakened or damaged by the recent ice storm. As we get closer to the weekend and forecast confidence increases, a wind advisory may become necessary.
Many people are without power as dangerously cold temperatures move in. Here are some tips to stay warm and safe during the cold if you have no power and consider moving to a warming shelter.
