A winter storm is expected to impact the region, with greatest impacts to travel and utilities expected across North Mississippi and the potential for impacts for additional areas north of the I-20 corridor. Particularly across North Mississippi, travelers and residents should prepare for difficult travel and power outages. After a mostly sunny start, precipitation will begin to spread across the area later this afternoon. High temperatures will be in the 40s in most areas.
Precipitation will spread across the area through the night. For most areas along and south of I-20, cold rain is expected. However, farther north, a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected with impacts to travel and utilities possible. Low temperatures will range from the upper 20s to middle 30s.
