An arctic air outbreak will bring the coldest weather of the season into the forecast area as we go into next week. This will be a long duration of dangerous cold temperatures with the coldest air moving in Sunday night and persisting through next Wednesday night, and it is possible that it will extend into late next week. Stay tuned to the latest forecast updates as we approach next week. Winter preparations are recommended now in advance of this dangerous cold.
Snow and ice threat is increasing across the region, with greatest chances of impacts to travel and power outages from a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain generally along and southeast of the Natchez Trace corridor, while further north some impacts to travel. Most confident timing will be Tuesday through Wednesday, while impacts may remain through late week.
It will be mostly cloudy tonight in the south with a very low chance of light rain. Lows will be in the low to mid 30s.
Thursday will be mostly sunny. Highs will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
