April 13, 2015 Tornadoes
Event Summary
During the morning of April 13th, an upper level low pressure was drifting over Texas and high amounts of moisture and rainfall and thunderstorms moved into the region. As the storms from the early morning moved into northern Mississippi in the early afternoon, some showers developed in central Mississippi heading to the northeast into the Jackson Metro area. Low level winds and moisture was favorable for some very shallow rotating showers and one moved over the NWS Jackson office, producing rotation but no tornado, and it continued to the northeast. These storms were shallow and contained no lightning. One such shower moved just north of Terry, Mississippi, producing an EF0 tornado. Another tornado, EF1, occurred in Scott County area, likely from the same supercell that came over the NWS Jackson office. Lastly, a third tornado, EF0, occurred in Walnut Grove. The showers moved out of the area late in the evening.
