A Pacific Storm Brings Precipitation and Gusty Winds to the West; Critical Fire Weather Conditions Return to the Southern Plains

A Pacific storm will bring widespread valley rain and mountain snow across California, the Great Basin, and the Intermountain West as well as portions of the Plains through Friday. Gusty winds may lead to periods of blowing snow and difficult travel conditions. The Mission of the International Affairs Office (IAO) of the U.S. National Weather Service is to enhance NOAA/NWS ability to provide the best weather, water, and climate forecasts through international cooperation on hydro-meteorological observations, data exchange, modeling, research, and technology development; and to provide global leadership in setting meteorological standards and building partnerships to save lives and protect property.
