A tornado touched down 5 miles west of Calera on SAC Road 155. The tornado moved eastward and crossed Highway 25 and lifted 1 mile north of Calera. Two trailers were demolished and several were overturned and damaged. Several trees were uprooted, several barns were damaged, and several homes were damaged. A large industrial building and cafe were wrecked. Two injuries occurred in one of the trailers.

Significant damage was reported to structures and trees along the entire path. At least 15 homes were demolished, 25 homes were damaged, 3 trailers and 10 barns were destroyed. One motel had extensive damage where 30 trucks and automobiles were damaged. About 2500 acres of timber were destroyed. Most of the injuries occurred in the first few miles of the tornado damage path. Many acres of unharvested corn was destroyed.

One trailer was destroyed and one home was damaged near Land. The two occupants of the trailer were injured. Three barns and farm equipment were damaged or destroyed in the same area. Tree damage was extensive.

This event may have been more than one tornado. At least 18 homes were destroyed and another 259 homes were damaged. Five mobile homes were demolished and 10 others were damaged. Many other structures sustained damage along the path. Damage was reported in Eight Mile, Saraland, Bay Minette, Canoe, Shady Grove.

Several trees were uprooted along this short path near the river. The tornado lifted a large column of water up off the Tennessee River.

The tornado struck the Nixon Chapel area and moved into Albertville. At least 5 homes were damaged, several outbuildings and barns were damaged or destroyed. A machine shop was also destroyed.
