A National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team has surveyed the storm damage in Pickens County. It has been determined the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. Damage estimates were consistent with winds around 90 mph.

A tornado touched down in Carrollton near the intersection of Rose Street and County Road 35. The tornado tracked east northeast and lifted in rural areas along Lubbub Creek. Several trees were snapped off or were blown down along the path. A few of the trees fell on homes and caused varying degrees of damage. A special thanks to the Pickens County Emergency Management Agency for help evaluating and collecting the assessment information.

Reflectivity

The top image is a KGWX 0.5 degree reflectivity loop. The bottom image is a KGWX 0.5 degree storm relative velocity loop. The green indicates wind blowing toward the radar while red indicates wind blowing away from the radar. This tornado develops near the same break in the line that the Rogersville Camp tornado did. But a continuous rotation is not evident in the lowest levels.
